Developing Mindfulness

Current research in Neuroscience has transformed our understanding of the connection between mindfulness and emotional health. We now have undeniable evidence of the positive impact that daily mindfulness practice has on managing depression, anxiety and general emotional wellbeing. An evening or half day workshop format (2-3 hours) will introduce participants to mindfulness meditation, provide an overview of the research, discuss the benefits and offer several simple practices.

A full day workshop format (6 hours) provides a more in depth exploration of the topic, additional practices, an opportunity for discussion and introduces the participants to mindful communication.

Discovering the Enneagram

The Enneagram is a powerful tool for understanding ourselves and others.

Each of us struggles with habitual ways of thinking, feeling and doing. This is how we express our personality. The habits of our personality define how we operate in the world and deal with life’s stresses. Some people get angry, some people push themselves harder, and still others become overwhelmed and shut down. Our personality also defines our leadership style and the skills we bring to work teams and managing others.

When we understand our habitual patterns – we can develop insight, learn to operate differently and become more effective both personally and professionally.

The Enneagram is a system that explores how to do this. It describes 9 universal but different personality types. Each of these nine types or patterns is based on an explicit set of perceptual filters that determine our worldview.

The Enneagram is an ancient symbol of unity and diversity, change and transformation. The word “ennea” is Greek for nine and “gram” means model or figure. Hence, the Enneagram is a symbol – a circle with nine points and their connections representing nine personality archetypes.

This workshop will cover concepts of the Enneagram beginning the essential gifts of each of the nine personality types. As you discover your type you also will discover what motivates you, your coping strategy and keys to personal development. Discovering the Enneagram can enrich your understanding of yourself and your relationships, as well as help you work with others regardless of your profession.

An evening or half day workshop format (2-3 hours) will give a brief but compelling overview of the 9 different personality types described by the Enneagram system of personality.

A full day workshop format (6 hours) provides enough time for an exploration of the 9 different personality types, how they are organized into the head, heart and body centres and the various expressions of each type. This fascinating system of understanding personality generates lots of questions and discussion.

A weekend retreat workshop (10 to 12 hours) offers the time to really delve into this fascinating study of personality. Participants will learn about the different types, have an opportunity to participate in exercises that will help them discover their own type and also be introduced to the instinctual sub-types. Participants will come away from this workshop with a good understanding of their own habitual patterns, methods for maintaining awareness and a way of viewing others with deeper compassion.
