Sweet “Honey” Bear
Therapy Dog … still in Training
Honey is a beautiful ruby coloured Cavalier King Charles Spaniel born on February 19th, 2012.
She follows in the “paw-steps” of a very special therapy dog named Lucy who worked with me for 13 years. It’s hard to believe these two special dogs never met, but somehow the baton was passed…Honey works her own magic at the office. If you remember Lucy, you will instantly adore Honey.
She has a beautiful face, a silky coat and a warm, inviting nature. Honey loves everyone she meets. She greets clients in the waiting room, welcomes you in and then settles down for a nice snuggle. For those who don’t care for furry comfort, Honey is just as content to quietly retire to her crate.
She walks to work with me every day through beautiful Charleson Park in Vancouver’s fabulous False Creek neighbourhood. She is a real show stopper and has many canine and human friends. She loves to run, fetch and play. Honey has tons of energy and when we’re not at work she keeps me off the couch and staying active.
For more information on Animal Assisted Therapy and the value of having a dog in a counselling setting, I invite you to read the article I wrote about working with Lucy. “Moments of Magic: Animal-Assisted Interventions in a Psychotherapy Setting”
Or book an appointment and come see for yourself… the soothing influence of Honey the “Comfort Spaniel” while you talk about the challenges you’re facing in your life.
Therapy never felt so sweet.
